Veldora Tempest, also known as Storm Dragon Veldora, is one of the most well known characters from the anime TenSura (that time i got reincarnated as a slime / Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken / 転生したらスライムだった件). He is well known for being an overpowered character in the Tensura Universe, adorned with this catastrophic strength, chaotic personality, and immortality. But when we really think about it, in a universe filled with Demon Lords, overpowered Kijins, and Holy Knights who are as strong as gods, the question naturally arises: In a 1×1 fight, who can defeat Veldora Tempest?

I know, you might be thinking: Why is Veldora so Difficult to defeat?

Veldora is one of the four true dragons in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which makes him as old as the Tensura Universe. He is an elite. True Dragons are basically the fore founders of the Tensura universe: fundamental forces of nature. His abilities include:

• Infinite Magicules: Veldora has limitless supply of magical energy.
• Ultimate Skill / Faust (later evolved): Helps him to predict actions during combact.
• Immortality & Regeneration: As the name suggest, even if his body gets shreded to pieces, he can regenerate.
• Storm Magic Mastery: His attacks can wipe out an entire country with ease (as he had done, for which his butt got whooped by the HERO).

Technically, Veldora is nearly invincible. But “nearly” is the keyword here.

Rimuru Tempest

I think we all guessed it. Rimuru is the most obvious answer. Rimuru grows in prowess way beyong Veldora throughout the series, and by the time he evolves into a true Demon Lord, and later more (no spoilers, don’t worry), his abilities surpass even the True Dragons.

Why do I think Rimuru can win:

• Has the best sensei, Raphael sensei (later on ceil sensei), along with multiple Ultimate Skills
• Can analyze, nullify, and replicate abilities with ease (all hail Raphael Sensei)
• Has control over space-time and reality manipulation (again, Raphael Sensei is the best)

In a serious combat lineup, Rimuru can not only beat Veldora, but confine him in Unlimited Imprisonment (Infinity Prison) with ease.

Milim Nava

Again, I think no surprises here. She is literally a powerhouse that match Rimuru and cause some serious damage to him. Hence, my hot take (not so hot) that she can beat Veldora.

Why do I think Milim can win:

• She is the daughter of a True Dragon, giving her immense innate power
• Possesses the Ultimate Skill “Wrathful King Satan”
• Her combat instincts are just chef’s kiss

If she takes the match up seriously, Veldora is in real trouble.

Guy Crimson

Let’s all pretend to act surprised. Guy is one of the strongest Demon Lords, arguably the strongest, and is also a Primordial Demon. In the Tensura Universe, it is no surprises that he can throw Veldora off the cliff.

Why do I think Guy can win:

• Hundreds and millions of years of combat experience
• Ability to copy and adapt to opponents’ abilities
• A literal genius in battlefield

But, the mail question lies: Can anyone truly kill Veldora?

This in my opinion, is an interesting question we can ponder on. Remember when I explained about Veldora, he is a True Dragon. As he is a True Dragon, he cannot really get “killed”. And by this, I mean in the traditional sense. Even if he gets defeated, he is bound to eventually return. Hence, I think instead of the question who can kill Veldora, the main question would be Who can defeat or neutralize him in a 1v1 fight? Any That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime characters with the abilities to:

• Manipulate Reality
• Conceptual erasure
• Any sealing abilities
• And/or time control

Would have a slight chance of winning against this dragon.

Now that we know what are the best skills against Veldora Tempest, what could be the biggest reason he might lose?

Despite his overwhelming strength, Veldora has a few weaknesses:

• Zero tactical discipline: Veldora is an extremely impulsive person and can often fights recklessly. Against strategic fighters like Guy, this can become a major disadvantage for Veldora-kun.
• Overconfidence: He has the tendency to underestimate his opponents, which can lead to, I feel, critical mistakes.
• Highly dependant on raw power: Unlike our MC Rimuru, who uses Raphael Sensei’s intelligence and his adaptable personality, Veldora often relies on extreme brute force.

If we rank the strongest contenders:

• Rimuru Tempest: Absolute winner within the same universe
• Guy Crimson: Strategically superior to Veldora
• Milim Nava: Pure raw destructive power

Veldora Tempest is for sure one of the most powerful beings in the anime, but he is definitely not unbeatable. Any character with broken abilities or narrative-level power scaling can defeat him in a 1v1 fight. However, what makes Veldora unique as a character isn’t just his brute strength, but it is his personality, unpredictability, and role he plays in shaping the world of Tensura. He may lose the battles , but as a True Dragon, he remains a force that can’t truly be erased. And that’s what keeps the debate alive: not if Veldora can be beaten, but who dares to try going against him!
