Tomodachi Game (トモダチゲーム) is a Japanese psychological Manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Satou and Yamaguchi Mikoto. It was published on the 9th of December 2013 in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine.
SYNOPSIS:
Yuuichi Katagiri has struggled with financial difficulties his entire life, but he has understood to be satisfied and optimistic thanks to his group of close friends. Yuuichi ends up saving up enough cash to participate the others on the class trip in order to keep a promise he made to them. However, once the collected funds strangely vanish, doubt drops on two of Yuuichi’s friends: Shiho Sawaragi as well as Makoto Shibe, that were in charge of collecting the cash payment. Shiho and Makoto, despite their innocence, take accountability for the inability to protect the cash because no one else steps forward.
A few nights later, Yuuichi as well as his friends start receiving cryptic notes that lead to their gathering. They are assaulted and knocked unconscious upon entry. They awaken in a strange room with “Manabu-kun,” a persona from a contentious kids program that was stopped due to it’s own inappropriate activity. He notifies the gathering how one of them brought them together inadvertently to resolve a significant debt. They are to join a “friendship game,” which is a series of games that will put their friendship and honesty in each other to the assessment. As the team’s belief dwindles due to the increasing amount of mysteries and deceits, Yuuichi must determine which of his “friends” he can truly trust and finally learn who the real culprit is.
The anime adaptation of this manga had created a huge buzz as it was announced during the fame period of Squid Game. Fans were looking forward to the anime. The official Twitter account of the anime released the first PV of the anime! You can check it out below:
