G-Idle Gets 1st Win For “Tomboy”!

G-Idle is a well-known South Korean Girlgroup currently consisting of 5 members, Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi and Shuhua. They debuted in the year 2018 under Cube Entertainment. Soojin is a former G-Idle member who left the group in 2021 because of her being involved in school bullying accusations.

“Tomboy” is a song by the South Korean girl group G-IDLE from their first studio album I Never Die. Cube Entertainment released it as the album’s lead single on March 14, 2022. Following the departure of member Soojin in August 2021, this was  G-IDLE’s first release as a five-member group.

Cube Entertainment stated on February 17, 2022, that (G)I-DLE will release a new album in March 2022 as a five-member group after member Soojin, who was involved in a school bullying scandal, left in August 2021. On February 24, it was revealed that (G)I-DLE’s debut studio album, I Never Die, will be released on March 14. The track lineup for the album was unveiled four days later, with “Tomboy” confirmed as the first single. The audio teaser video was uploaded on March 7. The teaser for the music video was released on March 11 and 12.

Soyeon wrote “Tomboy,” which she also composed and produced with Pop Time and Jenci. The song was classified as a rock and pop-punk song with lyrics about “independence and breaking the mould of being a ‘perfect’ girlfriend.”

G-Idle have got their first win for Tomboy SBS MTV The Show and surpassed Astro’s Moonbin and Sanha and Monsta X’s Kihyun.
