BTS has been named the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year for the second time in a row!
BTS created history by being the first Asian act to accomplish the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award the year before. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) is a non-profit association that serves the worldwide recording music world. Its annual Global Recording Artist of the Year award recognises an act’s worldwide appeal all over virtual and analog music file types (from streaming to vinyl) and encompasses their entire discography.
On February 24, IFPI declared on their official Twitter account that BTS had topped their 2021 IFPI Global Artist Chart. Taylor Swift, Adele, Drake, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, SEVENTEEN, and Olivia Rodrigo round out the top ten.
As several news sources pointed out, BTS is the first act to succeed the IFPI’s Global Recording Artist Award for two years in a row.
Congratulations to BTS!
